Is there a reason to choose Peppertype.ai instead of Jasper?

In this Peppertype VS Jasper (formerly Jarvis) comparison, you’ll discover the biggest difference between these tools, what they have in common, and a full pricing comparison.

By the end, it will be obvious which AI writer is best for you.

Feature Comparison

To kick things off, here’s a quick comparison of the most important features.

As you can see, Jasper has faired better in its content quality review and also has a long-form editor.

The lack of a long-form editor in Peppertype.ai is the biggest difference between it and Jasper, so that’s what we’ll examine first.

The editors

The single biggest difference between these AI writers is the editor.

Peppertype.ai doesn’t have a real solution for writing long-form content, whereas Jasper’s long-form editor is arguably its best feature.

In Peppertype.ai, there is a long-form editor, but it’s sort of hidden. It’s not included in the menu, and it doesn’t have a dedicated content type. To reach it, you’ll click a button at the bottom called “Notes,” and it opens up this editor:

You can use the widget in the left sidebar to generate a blog intro and conclusion. You can also use it to generate an outline and then use the Blog Heading Expander to write a bit of text for each heading.

While functional, it feels like a workaround for a missing feature.

Jasper, on the other hand, has a dedicated long-form editor with a completely unique design.

Writing with Jasper is a lot like writing in Google Docs, except you can instantly summon blocks of AI text whenever you want.

With Jasper, you’ll fill out a few details in the sidebar to give the AI direction, and then you can use keyboard shortcuts to generate an outline and text for each heading.

AI-written text isn’t perfect, and Jasper is designed to treat this problem. Rather than writing the entire article upfront, you can generate 200 words at a time by hitting cmd+j and then edit as you go. This makes the writing process extremely fast, and you’re always in control of the content.

Jasper also has built-in plagiarism checking and Grammarly support, and team members can collaborate with you too.

When it comes to writing articles, Jasper is one of the best, if not the best AI writer on the market, and it’s the clear winner in comparison with Peppertype.ai.

Short-form editors

The long-form editors present the biggest difference between these tools, but I want to give you a look at the short-form editors too.

When it comes to writing shorter content, like Tweets, Google ads, and product descriptions, these tools are evenly matched.

In fact, it would be hard to choose between Peppertype.ai and Jasper if you only need short content.

Peppertype.ai has a beautiful dashboard where you can browse the available content types.

After you select a content type, you’ll see a few inputs to give the AI guidance. The AI then generates three or more samples for you to choose from.

Quora answer prompt

Things are very similar in Jasper.

There’s a page where you can select a content type, and after choosing one, you’ll see inputs on the left side and the generated text on the right side.

Product descriptions written by Jasper

Both tools allow you to copy a result to your clipboard or save it for later as a favorite.

When it comes to short-form content generation, I’d call it a tie. There is nothing about either tool that makes it significantly better or worse in this regard.

Content quality

When evaluating AI content quality, long-form content is much harder to generate, so that’s usually the content I grade.

Since Peppertype.ai doesn’t really write articles, I can only grade it based on short-form content. For this reason, I gave it harsher ratings since qualities like repetition should be non-existent in a 60-word product description versus a 600-word article.

With that said, here’s a screenshot of a Quora answer generated with Peppertype.ai.

Peppertype.ai is great with flow, that is to say, the variety of sentence structure and style. However, it gets in over its head with this piece, and it ends up being nonsensical and factually inaccurate. You can’t follow along with the guidance at all, and the numbers are incorrect.

Here’s a short article generated with Jasper and copied into a text editor. This article was created with a keyword briefing and was not edited in any way.

Jasper content sample

The title is nice, the intro is solid, the conclusion works, and the content is factually accurate. These are actually products that you would want to use to care for your skin, and the details about them are correct as well.

On the other hand, the writing is pretty stiff and lacks style, but that is much easier to edit than content that is factually incorrect or off-topic.

AI content always needs to be edited, and Jasper gives you more detailed and accurate text than Peppertype.ai. You’ll spend less time editing and end with a better article using Jasper.

When it comes to micro-content like ad copy, content quality isn’t really a concern, and both tools do a good job of presenting new and interesting sales angles.

Pricing

Peppertype.ai has straightforward pricing.

You can get 50K words/month for $35/month, or if you have a team, $40/month.

Peppertype.ai pricing table

Jasper’s most affordable plan is $29/month, and this includes 20K words of short-form content only. If you want access to the long-form editor, pricing starts at $59/month for 50K words/month.

Pricing comparison

If you only need a small amount of short-form content, Jasper is cheaper at $29/month VS Peppertype’s $35/month plan.

However, Jasper’s pricing scales weirdly so that the Starter plan ends up costing more than the Boss Mode plan, which has more features. For that reason, I’m excluding it for the following comparisons.

You can get 50K words/month for $35/month with Peppertype.ai or $59/month with Jasper. Jasper costs an extra $24/month, but it includes a long-form content editor, which Peppertype doesn’t have, as well as 10 team members.

If you purchase an annual plan, Peppertype’s pricing only lowers to $33.33, while Jasper’s drops to $49/month.

Peppertype.ai doesn’t include information about how their pricing scales beyond 50K words, so you will have to contact them to find out if it gets more expensive than Jasper or not.

Final take

If you’re only interested in short-form content, these editors are extremely similar. In fact, I would lean towards Peppertype.ai because of how simple the interface is.

For anyone interested in writing full-length articles, the clear winner is Jasper. Its article editor is fantastic, and it works great for teams. The content quality is also beyond anything I was able to generate with Peppertype.ai.

Furthermore, Jasper is transparent about its pricing and can handle massive volumes of 700K+ or more words for teams that need that much content.

In the end, I’m recommending Peppertype.ai for casual, short-form content creation and Jasper for anyone who needs to write full-length articles or create content at scale with a team.
